Jack-O-Launch, Aurora (annually, 2nd Saturday in October)

Aurora's Dalaney farm is host to an annual pumpkin launching event called the Jack-O-Launch, which has become a real Colorado tradition. While the field is not really long enough for the big guns (the national Punkin Chunkin teams), teams of local pumpkin assassins gather to launch, hurl, and catapult their pumpkins in several categories to see who launches the farthest and most accurately.

There are a variety of other attractions such as farm exhibits and a marching bagpipe band. You can purchase pumpkins at the event also, and they have a pumpkin-sitting area to store your purchase until you leave.
