Winter Trails Day (annually, in January)

2009 Winter Trails Day was Saturday Jan. 10, but some locations may still have events going on thorughout the month:

Winter Trails Day is a nationwide event, with free or discounted access to many cross country (nordic) ski trails and snowshoe trails, free tours, free rentals, and that sort of thing. Colorado doesn't participate in Winter Trails Day as much as the east coast areas do, but still there are a few areas each year that offer Winter Trails deals. Colorado's basecamp for Winter Trails Day is the Echo Lake area at the base of the Mt. Evans road. I skipped Echo Lake this year though, and instead took the free Eco-Tour at Keystone Nordic Center.
